L'opera

The work

“La Grande Madre” is a work that pays homage to the Venus of Parabita, the ancient Paleolithic figurines discovered near Taranto, archaic symbols of fertility and spirituality, on display at the Taranto museum.

"My composition for "La Grande Madre" is a journey through the stages of life, inspired by the Venuses of Parabita. I tried to represent these themes with music that evolves, reflecting growth and transformation. Each musical block represents a different stage of life, from the moment of birth, through growth and maturity, to the final rebirth."

Ispirazione

The inspiration

Achille Lauro’s musical composition, takes us on a musical journey that traces the cycle of life through four movements: birth, growth, maturity and rebirth.

The work interweaves the stages of life with the spirituality of the Great Mother, a figure revered in ancient cultures as the embodiment of the earth’s fertility. Female deities, often associated with chthonic forces, reflect the primordial essence of the feminine and the sacredness of fertility, which inextricably binds women to the earth. This affinity is reflected in every movement of the composition, offering a profound musical reflection on the cyclical nature of life and the regenerative power of nature.
