The work

Una Vela tra i Due Mari” is a composition that encapsulates the emotional and cultural richness of Taranto’s Co-Cathedral Great Mother of God.

"To be chosen as the first composer for the project "Quadri Sonori" was a great honor and a significant emotion. I tried to translate into music the feelings and traditions of Taranto through the Co-Cathedral Great Mother of God. My composition was an artistic and personal journey, finding inspiration in the beauty and spirituality of this extraordinary monument. My artistic residency in Taranto allowed me to immerse myself in the culture and better understand the essence of this unique place."

The inspiration

“Una Vela tra i Due Mari” is a composition that encompasses the emotional and cultural richness of sacred architecture designed by architect Gio Ponti.

The work is based on a skillful fusion of traditional and modern elements, combining the famous Stabat Mater with local marches. Anzovino’s music explores themes of sorrow, hope and celebration, reflecting the spirit and history of Taranto. The work begins with a melody evoking sadness and reflection, continues with festive rhythms celebrating glory and peace, and culminates in a festive burst of joy and hope.
